International Partnerships
We have international partnerships with schools in India, Uganda and Spain. Over the past ten years Pilton Bluecoat Academy has been working alongside Lourdes Central School which is in Mangalore, India. The children and staff have worked jointly on curriculum based projects and children have taken part in exchange visits. Our children take part in regular Skype sessions linked to their work and we have also set up a pen pal system using Gmail so our pupils can communicate with each other about their lives.
Our links with Amigos International a local charity working in Uganda dates back to 2006. As a school we are currently sponsoring the education of a primary aged child and we are able to do this through a collection which takes place during our Christmas production. More recently we have successfully been awarded a Connecting Classroom grant to further our work with Green Valley Hills Primary school which is in Kampala, Uganda. Our Year 6 children are currently working jointly on an environmental project linked to consumption and production. We have also set up a pen pal system so our children can communicate regularly and share ideas about their lives.
The school has over the past ten years taken part in two ERASMUS projects with schools from Sweden, Italy, Finland, Spain and other European countries.
