School Closure Update

As the Prime Minister has announced the closure of all schools to all but keyworker children, I write to you to outline our plans.

The provision is to support keyworkers who have no other option but to use us and we will try and keep a skeleton staff in all schools. I'm hoping to distribute as many staff as possible to online learning to help support you all. We are very happy to be as flexible as possible so if you only need us for an hour, that's absolutely fine and we will be totally adaptive to support you. It will help us hugely if you only use the provision you need.

Please let your school office know of your childcare needs so we can staff as appropriately. I appreciate this is not possible for tomorrow morning! A packed lunch please tomorrow and school uniform as usual, please.

Tomorrow staff will not be as quick to support with home learning as we do not know how many of you will attend. There will be online learning tomorrow but it will probably not be from 9am as we sort out our in-school provision when we know numbers. Once we have a good idea of the capacity needed in school, we will have a super slick online learning provision for the length of the lockdown.

I want you to know that we will do all we can to support those who need to use the school site and those home-educating. We are, of course, saddened to not welcome all your children back as intended but please rest assured that we will be very present and available to help support you all through this next period of time.

Pilton Bluecoat, Umberleigh, Witheridge, High Bickington and Brayford Academies together form the TEAM (Together Each Achieves More)

Multi-Academy Trust. Being directly funded from the Department of Education, gives us a little more independence and allows us to be more creative in the way we develop our partnership. Our children, across all five schools, benefit from working together and they are able to have their learning enhanced through experiencing the different settings our schools offer. As a partnership, we are able to offer specialist teachers for Physical Education, Music and Modern Foreign Languages and our children benefit from a vibrant curriculum that includes residential visits for all junior children, days out to support learning and visitors to our schools to extend curriculum opportunities.

Our aim is to provide the highest quality education for the children in our care at every stage. We provide a very supportive and positive environment for children to learn. We are proud of the standards our children achieve, not only in their academic work but, importantly, in the way they develop as young people.
