Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to the Summer Term at Pilton Bluecoat C of E Academy. I hope you all had a relaxing and enjoyable Easter break. It has been wonderful to see so many children return excited and eager to get going again, they have settled back into school incredibly well.
Playtimes this week have been a real highlight. I’ve spent time outside each day and it has been fantastic to see children making the most of our space, playing across the field, building dens, enjoying football and ball games, exploring the forest area, engaging in loose parts play, and even dancing together to music. These moments really reflect the fun and energy of our school community.
On Monday, we revisited our school values and what they look like in action. The children have demonstrated these brilliantly, particularly in how they are working together, supporting one another, and showing respect and kindness.
This week, we were excited to welcome the Year 2 children from Pilton Infants for their first transition session. I had the pleasure of meeting them, sharing a story, and talking about life at Pilton Bluecoat, it was really lovely. On Friday, the first Year 2 class also joined us for lunchtime play, which will now continue each week with a different class. This gradual transition is incredibly important in helping children feel confident, connected, and ready for the move.
With the beautiful weather, our Year 5 pupils began their Bikeability sessions this week, such an important life skill, especially for safely navigating roads and the local area. They approached this with great enthusiasm and responsibility.
The Exmoor Challenge group headed out for another practice session, developing their orienteering skills and teamwork, an excellent effort from all involved.
The Year 5 mixed Tag-Rugby team were brilliant today. They went to Barnstaple Rugby Club and had a great time at the festival. They displayed great teamwork and determination.
As always, I want to say how proud we are of how well the children have returned. The Summer Term is a crucial time for consolidating learning, embracing wider opportunities, and beginning to prepare for transitions, particularly as we move into Summer Term 2.
Please do ensure your children attend school wherever possible, as every day really counts. If you have any concerns or need support, do not hesitate to get in touch, we are always here to help.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. It has been lovely catching up with so many of you this week, and I look forward to seeing you again soon.
Warm regards,
Mathew Harts
