Pilton Bluecoat Academy

Building Brighter Futures

Dear Parents and Carers,

Sorry it is a long one but what an incredible four days it has been at Pilton Bluecoat C of E Academy! The experiences, opportunities and achievements our children have been involved in have been truly remarkable.

I must start by saying how incredibly PROUD I am of each and every child. Throughout the week, they have embraced new experiences, approached unfamiliar situations with confidence and resilience, and consistently lived out our school values. They have been outstanding ambassadors for our school and community.

This week marked a very special milestone in our partnership with Evangelische Grundschule Potsdam in Germany.

Over two years ago, we began working together with a shared vision: to enhance educational opportunities for our children through our curriculum whilst developing their understanding of the wider world, different communities and cultures. We wanted our children to build the personal skills needed to thrive in an increasingly connected world.

This week, for the very first time, we welcomed staff and pupils from Potsdam to Pilton Bluecoat Academy.

Our children have learned alongside their German visitors, been taught by their teachers, connected through playtimes and shared experiences, and developed friendships that will last well beyond this week.

I would like to extend a huge thank you to you, our families, for the incredible support you have shown. Whether you hosted children for an evening with your family or contributed food for the farewell disco, your generosity and kindness have been overwhelming. The community spirit has been absolutely INCREDIBLE, and I cannot thank you enough.

The feedback we received perfectly captures the impact of this experience:

"Wow, what an incredible time we had hosting Niklas and Jarad. Both were extremely polite, kind and caring throughout. An absolute credit to their school.

We had a busy evening down at WWHo! We played football, won loads in the arcades and enjoyed a traditional British fish and chips dinner.

It was an awesome experience for Finn with memories that will last a lifetime.

Thanks again for the opportunity."

Alongside the visit, we also held an educational partnership meeting to explore future collaborative projects and opportunities for both schools. Watch this space, there is much more to come!

Year 3 shine at Cricket Festival

Our Year 3 children were absolutely sensational this week as they attended a cricket festival at Pilton Community College.

Their teachers were delighted with the way they supported one another, demonstrated excellent sportsmanship and represented the school with outstanding manners and behaviour throughout the day.

Well done, Year 3, you were fantastic ambassadors for Pilton Bluecoat C of E Academy.

Rising Stars celebration

Our Rising Stars children enjoyed a wonderful day at the Wake Park, celebrating excellence and achievement in sport.

It was fantastic to see their commitment, determination and success recognised in such a memorable way. Well done to all involved.

Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check

This week, our Year 4 children completed their Government Multiplication Tables Check.

They approached the assessments with composure, determination and drive, demonstrating the positive attitudes towards learning that we are so proud of at Pilton Bluecoat.

Whatever the outcome, they should be incredibly proud of the effort and commitment they have shown throughout the year.

Year 2 Transitions

This week we also took another important step in supporting transition by welcoming Year 2 parents and carers for an informal coffee afternoon to discuss their children's move to Pilton Bluecoat Academy.

As I always say, positive and open communication is so important when working in partnership. These opportunities allow us to build relationships, answer questions and ensure that every child feels confident and excited about the next stage of their education.

Year 3 showing Compassion and Leadership

Our Year 3 children have also demonstrated real compassion and service this week.

As part of transition work, Year 2 children wrote questions about life at Pilton Bluecoat Academy that they wanted answering. Our Year 3 pupils worked together to prepare thoughtful responses before meeting with the Year 2 children and answering their questions in person.

Their kindness, maturity and willingness to help others was wonderful to see. They truly are superstars.

Attendance

Looking back over everything our children have experienced in just four days, it highlights just how important attendance is.

Our current attendance figure stands at 94.5%, which is in line with national figures. Every day in school matters, and every day provides opportunities for children to learn, develop friendships and take part in experiences that help build brighter futures.

Thank you for your continued support in ensuring children attend school regularly and arrive on time.

Parking and road safety

Finally, I would like to remind everyone about the importance of road safety around the school site.

There was a near miss involving a child this morning, and thankfully no one was hurt. However, it serves as an important reminder that we all have a responsibility to keep our children safe.

Please remember that we provide free parking passes for Fairview Car Park. If you would like a pass, please contact the school office.

If you have concerns regarding parking or traffic around the school, it is also extremely helpful to report these directly to the Highways Department, as this supports wider efforts to address traffic concerns in the area.

Thank You

Once again, thank you for being such a supportive, caring and committed community.

This week has demonstrated what makes Pilton Bluecoat C of E Academy so special: children who embrace opportunities, staff who go above and beyond, and families who continually support one another.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Warm regards,

Mathew Harts
