Building Brighter Futures

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we come to the end of another busy week, I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to our whole school community for the incredible support shown during this period of exceptionally hot weather.

Making decisions around extreme weather is never easy. We always carefully consider the guidance available and make decisions that we believe are in the best interests of our children, staff and families. We truly appreciate your understanding and support throughout the week.

I would also like to recognise our incredibly dedicated staff, who have worked tirelessly to ensure that the children remained safe, happy and able to enjoy their time in school despite the challenging conditions. Their care, flexibility and commitment have been outstanding. Thank you also to those parents who took the time to send kind messages of support, and even delivered ice and ice pops! You know who you are, and your thoughtful gesture was very much appreciated.

Our Year 6 children have also had a fantastic week at Heatree. They have been wonderfully supported by both our school staff and the fantastic team at the centre, who have worked together to ensure every child had a memorable and enjoyable experience. During the visit there was an incident involving one of our pupils. I have spoken with her mum, who was incredibly supportive and appreciative of the excellent care provided by both our staff, the Heatree team and the emergency services who attended. We are pleased that, following the incident, the child was able to continue enjoying the residential with her classmates, which was lovely to see.

Back at school, our Year 6 children who did not attend Heatree have also had an absolutely fantastic week together. From Forest Fest adventures to creating colourful tie-dye masterpieces, they have enjoyed a wide range of exciting activities, spending quality time together, making wonderful memories. A huge thank you to Mrs Carter and Mrs Laird who delivered such a fun-filled week, it has been a brilliant experience for everyone involved.

Back at school, we were delighted to welcome our Year 2 children for an afternoon in their new Year 3 classes as part of their transition. Even in the warm weather, Mrs Dadswell, Mr Hick, Mrs Davies and Miss Brown ensured the children quickly settled into their new classrooms. It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces and such excitement for the year ahead.

Finally, ten of our Year 5 pupils visited Pathfield School to present their beautiful kirigami art projects. The children spoke confidently about their work and proudly shared their creative ideas. They represented the school brilliantly, demonstrating not only impressive artistic skills but also confidence, collaboration and respect. We are incredibly proud of them.

Thank you once again for your continued support. It is always a privilege to work in such a caring and supportive school community. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Kind regards,

Mathew Harts
