Dear Parents and Carers,
What an incredible week we have had at Pilton Bluecoat Academy!
We are delighted to share that we have been officially audited by the Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL) team and achieved an outstanding score of 94%, which places us as an OPAL Platinum School. This achievement puts us within the top 1–2% of schools nationally for our approach to play and outdoor learning. Providing children with a wide range of opportunities to develop their independence, creativity, teamwork and interpersonal skills is a vital part of our vision for Building Brighter Futures. Play is such an important part of children’s development, and it has been wonderful to see how much they have embraced the opportunities available to them.
Following this success, we will now become a provider school, supporting other schools to develop their own OPAL journeys. This is a fantastic recognition of the work taking place across our school.
A huge thank you must go to Miss Halpin, Ms Laird, Mrs Neville and Mrs Kiff, who make up our OPAL team and have worked tirelessly to make this initiative such a success. I would also like to thank all of our amazing Meal Time Assistants (MTAs) who provide encouragement, guidance and support to the children every single day. Your commitment makes such a difference.
Thank you to everyone who attended our Summer Fair. It was wonderful to see so many families coming together, having fun and supporting our school community. The atmosphere was fantastic, and we are incredibly grateful for your generosity. Together, you raised nearly £500, which will go towards resourcing and creating even more opportunities for our pupils. Our Parent Group and volunteers did a wonderful job. So, if you feel you could help in anyway please do let the school office know.
A big thank you to all of our Year 2 parents who attended the meeting on Monday evening. The hall and classrooms were packed, and it was fantastic to have the opportunity to share more about life in Year 3 and what children can look forward to as they continue their journey with us.
It is hard to believe we are heading towards the end of the academic year, where has the time gone?
As we approach the final weeks of term, please continue to ensure that attendance remains high so that children can make the most of every learning opportunity. We also know that the warmer weather can bring challenges, so please remember to send children into school with:
- A sun hat
- Sun cream applied before school (and a named bottle if appropriate)
- A water bottle to keep them hydrated
