Dear Parents and Carers,
Our Year 6 production of Oliver has been nothing short of outstanding! Over the past five weeks, the children have worked tirelessly, developing not only their acting, singing, stage management and performance skills, but also learning how to work together as a team. It has been wonderful to watch individuals grow in confidence and come together as one group to deliver such an incredible performance. One of our parents commented, "I used to be involved in the dramatic arts and I knew Lionel Bart [creator of 'Oliver'] and Ron Moody [the actor who played Fagin in the 1968 film adaptation]. They would have loved the show the children put on today!" Thank you, goes to Miss Edwards and the team for all the hard work and dedication you have invested into the props and support for the children.
Well done to our Year 6 boys, who represented Pilton Bluecoat brilliantly in this week's football tournament. Their teamwork, determination and excellent sportsmanship made us all incredibly proud.
At Pilton Bluecoat, our vision of Building Brighter Futures is about providing children with a high-quality education alongside rich opportunities that develop resilience, confidence, communication and teamwork. The production was a perfect example of this in action. Every single child should be immensely proud of what they achieved. Well done, Year 6, you have been amazing ambassadors for our school. We wish you every success as you begin your exciting journey into Year 7. We know you will continue to shine.
A huge congratulations also goes to everyone involved in our Rocksteady Concert. It was wonderful to see so many children performing with such enthusiasm, confidence and enjoyment. Learning to perform in front of an audience takes courage, commitment and determination, and our musicians should be incredibly proud of themselves. A special thank you goes to Stuart for his continued encouragement, expertise and support in helping our young musicians flourish.
This week, our Year 4 and Year 5 pupils welcomed the Educational Team from North Devon Police. The sessions were a fantastic opportunity for children to meet local officers and begin building positive relationships. As we move into next year, the team will continue working alongside our pupils, helping them understand that the police are there to support, guide and help them whenever they need it. Developing these trusted relationships is an important part of keeping our children safe and helping them feel confident within their community.
It is hard to believe that we are now so close to the end of another school year. As always, I would like to thank all of our families for the positive partnership you have shown throughout the year. Your encouragement and support make a tremendous difference, and together we continue to build a wonderful school community where our children can thrive.
Before we finish, I would also like to say a huge thank you to Mrs Carter, who has dedicated a great deal of time to creating an extensive Summer Activities Pack for our families. The pack is full of information about free activities, local events, discounts, food offers and family support available throughout the summer holidays. We will be uploading this to the school website very shortly and will let everyone know as soon as it is available. It really is an excellent resource, and you may be surprised by just how many fantastic opportunities are available locally.
Finally, if I don't have the opportunity to see you before the end of term, I would like to wish all of our children, families and staff a safe, happy and relaxing summer holiday. Thank you once again for your continued support throughout the year. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in September for another exciting year of Building Brighter Futures.
