Dear Parents and Carers,
What a week it has been at Pilton Bluecoat Academy!
I must begin by congratulating our Year 5 and 6 children who took part in the indoor athletics competition at Pilton Community College. Competing against eight teams from across the area, our pupils finished an incredible 1st and 2nd place. Not only were the results outstanding, but the sportsmanship shown towards one another and the other teams was exemplary. We are extremely proud of you all, well done!
It has also been a real pleasure to celebrate children from across the school this week. Not just for their enthusiasm and perseverance in learning, but for the many ways they contribute beyond the classroom. From Year 6 boys refereeing the new Match of the Day football games, to our Year 6 librarians working collaboratively to support others in the library; from a child writing her own book, to another placing 8th in Devon for swimming, the list truly goes on. Education is vital, but it is these wider experiences, passions and drive that so powerfully enhance children’s development.
This week, I also met with our School Councillors and Mr Hick met with our Digital Champions. Gaining pupils’ views on what is working well and what we can continue to improve together is so important, and they represented the school brilliantly. They were thoughtful, articulate and a real credit to Pilton Bluecoat.
Thank you to the parents who attended the Germany meeting. A letter will be going out shortly with further information, including links to the slides and the video that has been produced. Please do not hesitate to speak to Mrs Bator, Mrs Rigler or myself if you have any further questions. This is a very important opportunity for our children and a valuable part of our wider curriculum.
A huge thank you as well to the Parent Group for their continued hard work in organising events to raise money for the school. There are some exciting events coming up, so please do watch this space!
As ever, thank you to Sharon from the Diocese for leading Collective Worship this week. It is a pleasure to welcome someone so committed to our school and to working with our children.
Finally, thank you all for your continued support. Working in partnership is key to the success, confidence and happiness of your children, and we truly value it.
Kind regards,
Mathew Harts
