Dear Parents and Carers,
What a brilliant week it has been at Pilton Bluecoat Academy, full of celebration and reflection on what makes our school such a special place.
We begin with our Year 6 children, who took part in their first Exmoor Challenge training session this week. They were incredible. Faced with a real mix of weather conditions and physical challenges, they showed resilience, determination and outstanding teamwork. The way they encouraged one another and kept each other going truly reflected our school values. A huge well done to every child involved, and a big thanks to all the adults who supported and made the experience possible.
This week we also welcomed visitors into school for a school review focusing on reading, history and geography. We were joined by a Trustee, a member of the Local Governing Board and senior staff from the Trust. It was a pleasure to showcase the high-quality teaching and learning taking place across the school, including the strong support provided for pupils with SEND.
The children spoke confidently and thoughtfully about their reading journeys, and one moment in particular summed up the culture of Pilton Bluecoat. When a Year 3 pupil shared that she sometimes finds reading difficult, a Year 6 pupil stopped to offer her advice, encouragement and practical support. You know who you are, Charlie (6SE), thank you for modelling kindness, leadership and care so beautifully.
That moment reflected something we see every day: a school culture where adults and children look after one another, support one another and genuinely care. Well done to everyone on such a successful review, and thank you to our families for your continued support, it truly makes a difference.
Thank you as well to all the families who attended the Ultimate Adventure Centre residential meeting this week. This is another exciting highlight of the Year 4 offer.
We are delighted that Swimbridge School will be joining us for the Year 5 residential to London next week. The children and staff joined us this week so they could form secure relationships before they go. This partnership will be hugely beneficial for all pupils involved, supporting transitions, building confidence and developing new friendships and relationships. We wish our children heading to London a fantastic trip
Finally, a reminder of the importance of daily school attendance. Being in school every day has a significant impact on children’s learning, confidence and wellbeing. Each day missed means missed learning, missed friendships and missed opportunities to build knowledge and skills. Thank you for continuing to support us in ensuring your child attends school regularly and on time.
As ever, thank you for being such a supportive and committed school community. Together, we really are Building Brighter Futures.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Kind regards,
Mathew Harts
