Dear Parents and Carers,
It may be the final week of term, but it has certainly been a busy one at Pilton Bluecoat!
Firstly, a huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our Easter service at St Mary’s. It was wonderful to see so many families and members of our community coming together. The children retold the Easter story beautifully, and we were incredibly proud of the confidence, respect, and understanding they showed. If you did take photos or videos I just ask that you keep them for yourselves to enjoy and to not share any of them on social media.
A big thank you as well to everyone who supported our Easter Fayre. It was fantastic to see such a great turnout, and the event was a real success. We are especially grateful to our parent group for all the hard work, time, and dedication that went into organising it, your efforts truly made a difference and reflect the strength of our school community.
We would also like to celebrate our Year 5 and 6 pupils who took part in the recent football tournament. They were a real credit to the school, demonstrating fantastic teamwork, determination, and, most importantly, excellent sportsmanship throughout. A first place for the Orange team!
The Year 6 children met an Antarctic explorer who has worked with the Scott family. To meet a real explorer truly brought their learning to life. Opportunities like these add to the cultural capital experiences for our children.
This week, we also welcomed a visit from an oral hygienist which was incredibly valuable in helping the children understand the importance of looking after themselves and reinforcing key life skills.
You should now have received the Curriculum Newsletters and Knowledge Organisers for the Summer term. These are a really important part of supporting your child’s learning. Having the opportunity to explore upcoming topics in advance helps children feel more confident and ensures everyone starts on a more even playing field. If you are able to spend some time looking through these over the Easter holidays, it will make a real difference.
With the Summer term fast approaching (where has the year gone?), we are already busy planning ahead. Staff have been working closely with Pilton Infants to support smooth transitions into Year 3, and we are also collaborating with Pilton Community College and Park to prepare our Year 6 pupils for the next stage of their journey. As you can imagine, the Summer term is a key time for all of our children.
Finally, a reminder about the importance of attendance. Every day in school really does count, particularly as we move into such an important term for learning and transition.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We wish you all a restful and enjoyable Easter break and look forward to welcoming everyone back for the Summer term.
Warm regards,
Mathew Harts
