Dear Parents and Carers,
Our Sports Day was a tremendous success, and it was wonderful to see so many parents, carers and family members joining us to support the children. Your presence made such a difference and helped create a fantastic atmosphere throughout the morning.
The children had a brilliant time taking part in the events. What stood out most was not just their enthusiasm and determination, but the way they supported one another. Whether celebrating success or encouraging friends through more challenging moments, they demonstrated our school values beautifully. We were incredibly proud to see such teamwork, kindness and sportsmanship on display.
I must say a BIG well done to the Yellow team for lifting the trophy this year!
Thank you to everyone who came along and cheered the children on. Your support means so much to them and helps make these occasions so special.
During Sports Day, there was a medical incident involving one of our parents. I am pleased to share that they are recovering well.
I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone for the care, compassion and support shown during what was understandably a worrying situation. A special thank you must go to Ash, who stepped in immediately to provide medical support and assistance.
Moments like these remind us what a special community we have at Pilton Bluecoat C of E Academy. The kindness and concern shown by staff, parents and pupils were truly remarkable.
A huge congratulations to Miss Edwards, Mr Turner and the entire Year 6 team.
On Tuesday, we welcomed the Local Authority for a writing moderation visit. I am delighted to report that all of our teacher assessments were upheld.
The moderators were particularly impressed by the sophistication of the children's writing, commenting on their ability to write at length and adapt their writing successfully across a range of different genres. This achievement reflects the hard work, dedication and high expectations of both our staff and pupils.
We are incredibly proud of what our Year 6 children have achieved.
As part of our commitment to ensuring children feel confident and prepared for their next stage of education, we have recently held enhanced transition meetings across the Trust.
These opportunities have brought children together from different schools, allowing them to meet and build friendships before starting at their new schools in September. We know how important these connections can be in helping children feel settled and excited about the next chapter of their educational journey.
Finally, I would like to remind all families that safeguarding remains our highest priority.
Recently, we have supported several families with a range of safeguarding matters. I would encourage any parent or carer who has concerns to talk to us. Whether your concerns relate to attendance, online safety, mental health, wellbeing, family circumstances or anything else affecting your child, please remember that we are here to help. For additional information and support, Devon County Council’s Safeguarding section provides a range of One-Minute Guides. These easy-to-read guides offer practical advice and information on different categories of abuse and safeguarding concerns.
Please remember that you do not have to face challenges alone. We are always here to listen, offer support, and help signpost families to appropriate services when needed.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
Warm regards,
Mathew Harts
